I am making every step count this February

This February, I am taking part in the BrainWalk. 

My brother was diagnosed with Encephalitis in 2022 in which he deteriorated from being able to function completely normally to not being able to walk, talk, or do tasks properly within a matter of hours which left him in hospital with no face to face contact for several weeks. Since then, he’s been diagnosed with a brain injury as a result which drastically affects his day to day life and has changed his abilities on even the most simple of tasks. 

He wasn’t offered any help or follow up appointments by the hospital and has only received help since we discovered The Encephalitis Society from a family friend. 

They’ve helped him understand how his brain has changed since the diagnosis and how to manage with it, despite the constant challenges. 

Encephalitis is life threatening for many and leaves long term issues for sufferers affecting their ability to work, be out in public etc.
